Give me your money

Give me your money
Jude Ajaegbu

I spoke to her yesterday
She still refused to change.

She runs after every other person that pass.
Am tired of such a lady.

Laugh at me if you like
But when last was she faithful to you?

She brings her friends with her and they all leave at once.

Say it out you slot.
You only love me when I have you.
You are the same with all your friends.

I still love you though.
You bring me smile once I have you.
My confidence soars.

You have made yourself a part of humanity, we all are chasing you now.
Tell me if you are nothing but a cheap wore?

Yeah, don’t get me wrong. I still love you, it’s just you never stay with me long enough when I need you the most.

Let me expose you to all my friends, incase any of them still wants you.

Hey pals, her hiding place is in your wallet but
her influence is on your head.
The love of her is the root of most evil says the bible, which is why I want to save you all from her misery. Open all your wallets, empty your bank accounts and send her to me. That is the only way I can save you all my friends. Send me all your money right now.

Monday and Man

Monday and Man
Jude Ajaegbu

It’s a Monday morning
6:30am as usual, the alarm is calling.
wake up, wake up it said.
Who am I to disobey.

I did my morning rituals and head straight to work.
At least, that’s what everyone else thought.
But to me, I knew I went to a place of unpleasantness. Doing the same thing everyday for 2 years cannot be pleasant.

Here he comes, the man who takes pride in making money for others.
Good morning Sir I greeted. See me in my office was all I heard.

That was unusual, I chuckled at least something is different about the job today.

Am here Sir, as you requested. Yes I asked of you. Let me say this straight, the economy is not working in our favor these days. Am sorry but we have to let some good men go. Ok Sir, that is a good news. Really? Yes, since you called them good men, that means whatever happens after now, those men will be released to take charge of their own future. Rather than depending on someone else dream.

Well said then. You are one of them. We are sorry we have to let you go. With joy and smile, I asked, where can I sign sir.

That was my last day as a slave. Four years down the road, I run my world, Am my own boss. I no longer need the alarm to wake up. My dream is my alarm. Am in charge of my life and happiness.

Cry My Motherland

Cry My Motherland
By Jude Ajaegbu

– Dedicated to all hardworking African youths

Oh Africa, oh my motherland, how did we wrong you?

How did we go wrong?
How come we have strayed so far that now we your children seek you in severe pains.
I remember the tales about great African kings who once ruled the world.
How come all we hear about you is how great you were in the past but nothing to show for today?
What went wrong Mama Africa?

Oh Africa, mother of resources yet your Children seek foreign aids.

Oh Africa, the great land filled with resources and potential but no result.

How come you can still smile when you know the pain you have caused on your descendants? Oh Africa, what have we done wrong to choose to become your descendant?

Like spell cast on us with beauty and potential yet that’s all we have.
All we hear about you is potential, potential, potential but no result.

I weep over you mother Africa. You brought this upon yourself. You let them suck you dry and yet call you poor.

They take your resources in secret and only show the pictures of your mishap on media.

When will you wake up mother Africa?

When will you stand upon your feet and be your own self?

When, when ?

As it is now, you have failed us but we refuse to fail ourselves.

We refuse to bow our heads in shames.
Whatever be the prize of greatness, we are willing to pay.
