Unguarded Heart

In a room full of people
pulsating loudly
the heart beat races
hidden smiles temper strong conversations
coded messages tap on surfaces
embedded in jokes, off colour stories
Responses to no particular questions
Timings and impulse chiming together
Chords woven in a sensual outlet
Clues in movement
Listening ear through stressful disappointments
Silences reverberating with loudness
Intentions hidden yet seen
A heart worn on the sleeve
Its fragility heavily guarded
From onlookers not…
Directed to its target
Freedom a price
Consciously unpaid
Seeing always
Feeling unguarded.
